(a tearful triolet)
dark are the days God hides his face
when sinners cry for rescue
long are the nights we pray for grace
dark are the days God hides his face
we hope to reach a better place
doubt is dark side of faith – it’s true
dark are the days God hides his face
when sinners cry for rescue.

Wrote this describing the “dark night of the soul” when one wrestles with God. (Later decided to link up with d’versepoets for Mary’s theme of “invisibility”)

Those times when He seems far away are the times when I am pulling away or hiding my face. He is there, eternal and waiting, and never lets us down. This is a very well written piece, with a psalm feel, that touches the heart and encourages with hope in the darkness. A hearty and thankful AMEN!

A psalm of struggle and lament…thank you for your gift of words here, shanyns!

I agree with Bjorn, the triolet works very nicely with the subject, and solace is something we all seek in some way in this largely indifferent universe…indifference can’t be at the end of it all.

Thanks for your comment on this triolet…encouraging words offer solace too.

Oh, it is really sad feeling invisible to God! These are dark days indeed, but hopefully short-lived as we remember the grace of God who sees us as we are but loves us still.

Sometimes that’s all we can do…hang on and trust his gracious love!

a powerful write. there is much here to think on.

thank you…

smiles…i think if god judged us for who we are and we were to hear just a part of it…if it was honest…lacking the grace i know of him….its hard stuff, this life….and i have felt far from god at times…and i think at times i did not want to see him in those moments….

so true, brian…thanks for your comments…sometimes we wrestle in prayer for ourselves and sometimes for someone we love

A triolet.. really I think this works great with dark themes (better than light actually) and dark times there are… and it must be a solace to believe there’s a god somewhere…

thanks for your comment, Bjorn – we all go thru dark times…but trusting the light, like day, returns…

yes…those are dark times indeed… joseph must have felt like this a few times when he was in prison in egypt and god seemed to have forgotten him.. it always calms me to know that he did not – so he won’t forget me as well… a soothing knowledge…smiles

Yes, He sees…and knows…and remembers us – thanks, claudia.

#1 it seems; not a normal occurrence for sure. A tasty meaningful triolet, yes, but for some of we metaphysical folks, who believe in spirituality, not confined, contrived mandates, and empty promises, we seek God within, and we often find we need to move through the pain, the blood rain, and rescue ourselves.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting, Glenn. Even in the silence and struggle, I find it comforting to believe there’s Someone greater out there…and He lives within as well.
