Meeting the Bar at dVerse Poets with Bjorn looking at impressionistic art
layers of light
flecks of colour
giant’s velvet

is sunlit stack of
bovine manna

will-o-wisps in wind
dense center holds
heat of long day

I love what you did with this image…visions of cupcake , muffin top and bovine manna are great. I read this prompt when it came out and felt a bit bamboozled by it. I think you did very well.

I appreciate your kind comment.

I agree. Your poem is a very creative reflection of Monet’s work. Now I am dreaming of cupcakes.
Mar 18, 2017 @ 23:08:12
…with chocolate frosting and sprinkles 😉

A good match of verse and image…nice balance to this.

I also like how you used the painting! That shape, repeated in your write. Lovely!
Mar 18, 2017 @ 13:47:11
Thank you, Bekkie!

The seemingly realistic haystack ties in with the liveliness of your poem Lynn!

We bale our hay now but I think the old stacks look quaint 🙂
Mar 16, 2017 @ 23:47:10
Fun and lovely. Could almost feel the late summer sun warmth.
Mar 17, 2017 @ 08:18:38
Thanks for reading, Sarah!

I did like the muffin top….Made me smile. One can tell you love being a farm girl. I first read “bovine manna” as bovine mama…and liked it! then I reread and realized it was manna. Sometimes my dyslexia gets me.
Mar 16, 2017 @ 22:05:08
Lol…the bovine “mama” is funny 😂
Mar 16, 2017 @ 22:05:47
Yes but it made sense at the time, in an odd way.
Mar 16, 2017 @ 22:08:42
Especially when they are ready to calve…some get almost round as a haystack 😉
Mar 16, 2017 @ 20:46:55
Love that you chose Monet’s hay stacks to set off your lovely Midwest poem. And how you stacked the lines, almost as if to bring home the point.
Mar 16, 2017 @ 21:20:40
Yes, that painting touched the farm woman in me…thanks, Victoria 😅
Mar 16, 2017 @ 22:34:34
Thank God for farm women!
Mar 16, 2017 @ 18:39:43
loved this “dense center holds – heat of day” – captured sunshine not only in the hay but from your words
Mar 16, 2017 @ 18:50:56
Glad you felt the warmth 😃
Mar 16, 2017 @ 18:05:47
I liked the stack being called “bovine manna”. I suspect it is some kind of hay.
Mar 16, 2017 @ 18:07:03
Yes…manna asks, “What is it?”
Mar 16, 2017 @ 16:59:13
I love the layering of light and heat reflecting the sweat of the harvest Lynn ~
Mar 16, 2017 @ 17:45:42
Thank you, Grace ☺️
Mar 16, 2017 @ 16:39:16
This is delightful….your words with layers of light and end of summer harvest gave this fresh meaning
Mar 16, 2017 @ 17:44:49
Thanks for your comment, Kathy!
Mar 16, 2017 @ 16:27:17
Delicate cupcake of a poem
Mar 17, 2017 @ 08:30:02
🙂 You can reach out and take a bite!
Mar 16, 2017 @ 15:42:26
I like how you used the painting as your springboard for such a delicately penned poem
Mar 16, 2017 @ 17:43:49
Awesome prompt for MTB, Bjorn!
