Meeting the Bar at dVerse Poets with Bjorn looking at impressionistic art

layers of light

flecks of colour

giant’s velvet

birthday cupcake

or thatched hut

is sunlit stack of

bovine manna

dried muffin-top

will-o-wisps in wind

dense center holds

heat of long day

gleaned stubble field

rests in cool shade

robust wet dabs

of painter’s palette

reflects sweat of

villagers’ harvest

I love what you did with this image…visions of cupcake , muffin top and bovine manna are great. I read this prompt when it came out and felt a bit bamboozled by it. I think you did very well.

I agree. Your poem is a very creative reflection of Monet’s work. Now I am dreaming of cupcakes.

I also like how you used the painting! That shape, repeated in your write. Lovely!

The seemingly realistic haystack ties in with the liveliness of your poem Lynn!

Fun and lovely. Could almost feel the late summer sun warmth.

I did like the muffin top….Made me smile. One can tell you love being a farm girl. I first read “bovine manna” as bovine mama…and liked it! then I reread and realized it was manna. Sometimes my dyslexia gets me.

Love that you chose Monet’s hay stacks to set off your lovely Midwest poem. And how you stacked the lines, almost as if to bring home the point.

loved this “dense center holds – heat of day” – captured sunshine not only in the hay but from your words

I liked the stack being called “bovine manna”. I suspect it is some kind of hay.

This is delightful….your words with layers of light and end of summer harvest gave this fresh meaning

I like how you used the painting as your springboard for such a delicately penned poem
