A summery quadrille (44 words) for dVerse where De is hosting…
summer shared on prairie
(local scene) seen as more than
one season if so pleasing
redwing blackbird pairs nest
best in wetlands of cattails
goldenrod bursts heady clumps
lavender bergamot follows thistles
whistles of insects through wild brome
sunflower beguiles smiles above it all

A downright delicious poem, Lynn! I love the way you followed “thistles” at the end of one line with “whistles” at the beginning of the next. Brilliant! / I too love the distinctive call of the red-winged blackbirds.

Beautiful, Lynn! There’s a wetlands area I love to walk in Reno, and the redwing blackbirds are a favorite, always.
