will bearded lady sing?

This week the U.S. Supreme Court heard a case about transgender men in women’s sports but the lawyer could not define a woman legally. In a Senate hearing on abortion rights, a senator questioned a female doctor if men can get pregnant and she could not answer yes or no.

beauty in diversity exists;
does not require extremism

but confusion and chaos
reign in rainbow la la land

where scientists cannot
define a man or woman;

logic is left lying in dust,
basic biology debunked.

gender?? pretend it’s fluid
while culture drowns in

silly sea of semantics;
riptides of asexual revolt.

denying reality doesn’t
make dreams materialize

confused youth deserve
compassion, not reasons

for mutilation; tell us why
“trans” suicide rate is high?

Linking to OLN with dVerse poets were Lillian hosts with ekphrastic prompt. Painting entitled “Mme Kupka among Verticals” by Frantisek Kupka, 1910-11.

I find the online stories of detransitioners like Chloe Cole, Christina Hineman, Prisha Mosley, and Lex Renick very compelling.

    At my school in Thailand I would guess maybe 40% of students (and teachers too, come to think of it) fit the LGBTQ banner and it is proudly on display. I think it’s great. I don’t know what the laws are around transitioning age, or how many of them even want to. Perhaps when pride in one’s differences are free to be displayed it becomes less about the outside (body) and more about who you are inside (the mind).

      Thanks for your comment 🙂 Diversity in mind and personal expression is beautiful but an agenda to “transition” vulnerable young people or allow men in women’s sports can be dangerous.

    A complex issue. Some infants are born with mixed chormosomes and also parts of genitalia for both male and female. In those instances, parents face a difficult choice. I land on the freedome for one to be as one believes they are….respect for all. Where I think I differ is in the sports arena. Rather than saying no biologically born males in female sports, perhaps there should be IE physical parameters that would protect the females in particular sports IE where weight or height can be dangerous? But then, what of the biologically born female who is indeed 6′ 6″ and weighs close to 300 pounds? It’s a very complex issue. I do definitely believe in gay marriage…let people love who they love. So I think I’ll stop writing here…as I say, when you get in to some parts of this issue, it does indeed get complex.

      Humans are very complex…and amazing! But biological sex is binary (except for rare mutations). Yes, gender is in our DNA and chromosomes; marks every cell. I think “gender fluid” ideology only confuses the issue and hurts people, especially young people. Thanks for discussing it with me here, Lillian 🙂

    I find it hard to comment, but I do believe that this is more personal and should not be a political question either way.

    I agree.
