Where does love go when
the cooking is bad?
does it shred favorite menu
then stomp away mad?
Where does love go when
birthed immature kids?
does it line them all up
to take highest bids?
Where does love go when
beloved grows old?
does it throw open door,
push them out in the cold?
Where does love go when
life’s going gets tough?
does it head for the hills
claiming it’s not enough?
Real love doesn’t leave
when real trouble appears
True love sticks around
and sweetens with years.

I wrote this tongue-in-cheek response to Kim’s prompt at dVerse. The quote is the question raised by poet, Mary Shelley: “Where does love go when it goes?”

“Where does love go when birthed immature kids? does it line them all up to take highest bids?”–cracked me up! Well done with truth here, Lynn.

I enjoyed your light-hearted take on the prompt, Lynn. I never had the urge to auction off my daughter, but I think I’ve spotted her looking like she might with her two boys! I sometimes think that husbands get grumpier and harder to deal with as they get older, but we still stick with them.

Absolutely. Was tempted once to look for a bidder for the kids 😂
