“all is vanity,” says the preacher
life’s breath ~ “chasing after wind”
somewhere in the weary world
newborn baby first sucks in air
toddler tosses pebbles into pond
young girl twirls a wedding dance
farmer plants seed in hope of harvest
lovers laugh to embrace ~ weep, to not
developer digs dirt in hope of homes
man grieves loss of beloved wife
old woman stacks stones on beach
dying man expires with final sigh
somewhere in the weary world
“all is vanity,” says the preacher
life’s breath ~ “chasing after wind”

I like how you’ve framed the stages of life in the preacher’s words and ‘life’s breath ~ “chasing after wind”’, Lynn, and the way the pebbles progress to stones.

Such is life and we are all but a dust or footprint in the sands.

…and to dust we shall return

This makes me think about how all of these things are happening at the same time each day. It offers a sense of overall balance.

We are each only a blip in the passage of time, but a link in the chain or our heritage.

Thanks for a brief glimpse of God’s vision. And he laughs and he cries and he declares it all to be good.

Yes, He is sovereign over all…and he is Good.

Succinctly moving through the journey of life.
Yes — the preacher’s words can be truthful here….we are each but a breath of wind in the entirety of the world….there is life and there is death. But I hope there is a goodness that exists between the breathing in and the breathing out.

God’s goodness abounds…if we recognize it.

Amen to that 🙂
