movement of life

salmon flash upstream

an urgency to breed

eggs float underwater

seed coat splits open

sprout pierces into light

leaf nodes bulge green

ripe chrysalis rips gentlyIMG_5294

wet monarch emerges

stretches sticky wings

moment of conception

multiple cell divisions

quickening in her womb

strong uterine contractions

now little hooves appear

cow licks fresh calf

mare wickers softly

new foal stands wobbly

searching for teat

chubby babe rolls over

sits up with support

takes first steps to daddy

And the beat goes on. I love how you tied together the everyday expressions of life across creatures. Expressions so intrinsic to our nature but those of which I never tire of witnessing. Nor does our loving God.

The beginnings of life…a treasure to watch them take that first breath and step.

Many beginnings begin brutally LYNN, but may beauty always win out eventually.

Your words are magical, the message clear; your short tercets seem to be a form, but the syllable count varies, so I wonder a bit. I enjoyed the poem regardless.

    May I add:

    creature becomes aware
    responds to love given
    Creator smiles
