forest babies

turn tufted head ‘round
watch for father who hunts food
owlet waits on rock

curled up for their nap
dappled backs of young fawn twins
hidden in tall grass

three sets of masked eyes
match three pairs of handy paws
coons claim hollow tree

I LOVE this so much. You captured my attention right in the first line and I just love the evocations in the imagery with the owls to the fawns, then finally the coons. It’s quite lovely as you describe them in their natural state. Beautifully and delicately written.

These forest babies are so sweat. Today I watched from my balcony a bird that I didn’t see before. It is always great what nature offers to us. We must protect these babies.
