he’s no wallflower

_______

you are a saute old fellow

whether gussy(sacked) up

in wine, ivory, gold yellow,

or tastefully seen in green!

_______

quite pungently romantic

and amorously aromatic

(though slippery-skinned)

you require running water

and sharp knife to cut in

fast as salsa dance partner

with hot peppers or garlic.

_______

as sweet layers peel off,

your heart risks exposure

but no fear, it’s not here

you prove elusive as ever

still eliciting tears wherever

you mince, slice or chop!

Aww, I like the light-hardheartedness in the voice and yet you really paid tribute to the fellow with all those wonderful lines.

Oh, bravo, Lynn! I can’t decide line by line if you’re describing an onion or a Don Juan. Both I think!!! And the end result is as clever as it is juicy. Love it. ❀️

I liked the sharp sounds and short lines like chopping.

Great use of the senses in your onion poem, Lynn, and the sharp knife as a dance partner is a neat touch!

Very nicely done, Lynn. I like your line of the dance partner knife cutting in…

Lynn, you had me at the first line. Excellent spin on that slippery fellow.
