carpe diem

Procrastination… is what
happens when there is
too Much time before IT
Must be done or … you
simply fail to make a Plan;
Perhaps FEAR contributes to
putting off what needs DO
ing as you wrestle with
DISappointing your
own expectations. One
Remedy is to take wild
worries… captive and
tame THIS very precious
moment…why miss life?

______________

This is a “golden shovel” poem. The final words of each line form a phrase from another poet; in this case, the final thought from Mary Oliver’s poem, “The Summer Day.” Linking to dVerse poets where Grace invites us to try this form.

Why indeed. But there are some things that need to be done everyday. Still live out your best life!

    Nicely written Lynn 👏

I’m curious about the (seemingly) random use of capitalisation and what your idea is behind it.

I’m glad it made you curious, Shaun! I often don’t use capitalization but just played with it to add interest this time. It also slows down (procrastinates) the reading 🙂

Ah….I’ve always adored Mary Oliver’s poetry….I used a line from her Wild Geese poem for this prompt. The line you’ve used however, is my absolute favorite of hers. It’s a call to action! It’s a line that could be said assrtively to someone, to many, in many times of goings on.

Yes, a wise poem, a good answer to Mary Oliver’s question and a thorough and thoughtful examination of how we spend (or waste) time.
