i amble around ripe prairie loop
(adjacent to alma mater campus)
fall breeze ushers clouds in early.
no geese migrating overhead yet
but late monarchs linger on golden
ox-eye, heavy stems wave goodbye
to summer …a fleeting reminder to
many (any) observant pilgrims who
walk this way that all of life is sacred.

Linking to dVerse poets where Bjorn hosts poetry on theme of “non-religious” pilgrimage…is there such a thing?

Lovely, Lynn. We’re all just passing through, but the beauty we share — like those monarchs — make it something more.

Here many birds have already left… and alas no butterflies here.

Sadly, too far north for butterflies?! 😦
Sep 23, 2026 @ 18:50:37
They are going south on our end
