ekphrasticly me

Linking with poets at dVerse hosted by Melissa LeMay and featuring the amazing art of Alma Thomas!

i must radiate
from cool core soul
like blue mud ball of heavy
clay saturated then evaporated into wet
rings rippling outward with smooth swirling moves that break through purple
barrier of fearful insecurities
with unique inner energy ignited by spirit’s heat. which pulsates bright music
of love and creativity to touch and enhance other lives with beauty and joy!

fertility

I have written on this theme before (search my site for “birth of a poem”) but then…after my first son, I eventually birthed 4 more!

poem begins as embryo

when an image sparks

pregnant thoughts

which swell into words;

word cells divide/multiply

to form fetal phrases

as distinct details develop

with additions/edits

until time comes to

birth and deliver poem

to the waiting world

with hope it will be

accepted, perhaps

even loved.

fresh aire

a brisk walk

an honest talk

a good read

an art fest

a media fast

a child’s play

a full cup

a warm hug

a favorite song

an open Bible

a quiet meditation

a simple prayer

awakens heart

stirs creativity

motivates change.

shiny power from

imagination’s station

bursts into dusty room

of beautifully tired mind;

ideas full-throttle steaming,

bells clang, lantern gleaming,

an archetypical locomotive

that sweeps any confusion

off flexing steel rails onto

sooty hardwood flooring;

while graceful barefoot

thoughts pose, entranced

by marvelous miniature

revelation which may

inspire fresh energy

for creativity; black

and white contrast

needs fleshing out,

expressed in muscular

tones of new dance steps,

art’s arabesque.
