chrysalis

– for Leanne

caterpillar worm

eating way thru milkweed leaves

inches slowly on

stops to shed dead skin

hope curls inside dark cocoon

change from inside out

I haven’t seen a caterpillar in such a long time, I see butterflies so I know they must be around. I used to watch the cycle with such eagerness as a child, the emergence of the butterfly was amazing. Thanks for the flashback.

From the bitterness of “wormhood” emerges the sweetness of “butterflyhood”!
