open letter to my son(s)

Dearest Son,

you will find in
this sad world
people who live
aimlessly and by
default become

surprisingly foolish
selfishly apathetic
faithlessly perverse
dishonestly lazy
bitterly violent

but you, quiet your heart
consider your footsteps
hold fast to the truth
choose to be different
be blessed by joy

shine!

all my love & prayers,
Mom

” I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.”

( I John 1:4 )

wonderful words to give… I especially liked,

    but you, quiet your heart
    consider your footsteps
    hold fast to the truth
    choose to be different
    be blessed by joy

Wonderful words here.. Reminds me of a well-known poem written to an imaginary daughter by Anna-Maria Lenngren that I read at school.

It is, indeed, a comfort to know your children walk in truth.

Great advice. It sounds like a poem to give to a son for a graduation perhaps?

I like the way you have use adverbs repeatedly to make your point about a certain category of people. Are you going to share your poem with your son?
