Linking to dVerse where Bjorn is serving fresh haibuns…
The artist’s brush expresses what ears may not hear and tongue cannot say…
“After he took him aside away from the crowd, Jesus put his fingers into the man’s ears. Then he spit and touched the man’s tongue. He looked up into heaven and with a deep sigh said to him, ‘Ephphatha!’ (which means, ‘Be opened!’). At this, the man’s ears were opened, his tongue loosened and he began to speak plainly.” (Mark 7:33-35)
Is the one who inspired the colors of Vincent’s art the same spirit who illuminated Mark to write good news? Perhaps today, Christ’s spirit sighs for us “to listen” to his loving whispers…or he may be prompting us “to speak” his message of peace. Hearts and minds, like church windows of the soul, need to be opened to let in the fresh breeze of the Holy Spirit. If only Vincent had found healing in this life.

Wonderful culminating verse.

Thank you for stopping by and commenting.

Perhaps the spirit guided him in his art more than anywhere else. With the archaic treatments for mental illnesses in those times, it was probably a blessing from God that he could find peace in his work.
This was an interesting path to take with the prompt. Thought provoking. 🙂

Interesting comment to add to the conversation…thanks for your input!

The ‘sigh in colours’ is really such an apt description – beautifully captured!
Nov 04, 2015 @ 21:39:15
I believe that it was the same spirit that moves through all of us in all our ups and downs. His spirit shown very bright when he painted the beauty that he was able to capture. I really appreciate the angle that you brought here, Lynn.

Vincent’s initial “call” was to minister to miners. He didn’t feel he was able to get the Message across and felt himself a failure…then her turned to art. I chose to believe he was always, in all the highs and lows of his life, led by the Holy Spirit.
Nov 04, 2015 @ 15:15:04
I appreciate your thoughts, Victoria.
Nov 04, 2015 @ 13:36:41
I do so like how you did this. The place itself and the Asylum are indeed peaceful and healing. A spiritual peaceful wind instead of that roaring wind at Pentecost. I’m glad you joined in on the haibuns. You most def added a lovely quality to the submissions.
Nov 04, 2015 @ 15:13:28
You are kind, Toni…thank you!
Nov 04, 2015 @ 08:47:14
Well.. Lynn.. pArt of the reason
i love you near the end is ’cause
we both see a friend
in Jesus.. originally
named Yeshua
and other
names
and
sadly as Jesus
predicts many people
have yes.. done more than
he.. but sadly as then..
their only reward
from culture
has been
torture
in many ways..
witting and witting
not.. there are many Jesus’
who spend their life on street
corners.. drugged up.. and
in institutions too..
but then there
are Jesus’
who still
live now..
who understand
that the me he is talking
about is the God in them.. NOW..
as yes.. in language revisions
original meanings are sadly
lost into literal
translations
that fail
no less
than
literal
translations
of poetry even
yes.. here..
as poeTry..
when some folks without
these deeper eyes and ears
of GOD have never really
been healed
and see and
hear more.. ‘here’..
anyway.. the experience
of the awakening and enlightening
that the real man Jesus speaks of
as not censored out of the gnostic
gospels of Jesus.. by a psychopathic
power hungry Emperor Constantine
to expand the Roman empire
by making a humble Prophet/
Teacher/’Yogi’/healer into a
soldier Sun GOD
as extension of the
Mithra-mythical religion
in 325 AD.. with
‘back-room’ closed
door now then deals
of Catholic Cohort
leaders then and now..
YES.. THE REAL EXPERIENCE
OF AWAKENING AND ENLIGHTENING
OF HUMAN BEINGS HERE ON EARTH
AND ANY CREATURE LIKE US
LIKELY ON ANY OTHER PLANET
IN INFINITY’S UNIVERSE(S)
CREATED BY THE ONE GOD
OF ALL.. range from metaphors
here on earth from being
born again.. to
Kundalini
rising.. to the
Dao and Tao
the Dharma
And Qi to Ki
to Chi.. and
becoming one
with the Great
Spirit too.. and limitless
other human metaphors
of myths housing vehicles
and vessels of Universal
truths and yes.. now
even self actualization
in secular words for some..
but the bottom line IS
GOD IS THE GOD OF ALL
AND AS LONG AS MORE
OF HUMAN POTENTIAL
IS PURSUED JESUS’
PROPHECY OF
GREATER
PAINTINGS
WILL COME TRUE..
particularly when Jesus
becomes more and more
welcome.. in metaphor
of course..
today..
resurrected as such..
in so many people
who gain eyes and
ears closer to GOD
as metaphor
of course
too..
Poetry is a great
adventure to better understand
the parables of the bible too..
particularly as we as
source material
start
to write
those parables
as Yeshua.. et al
speaks then
too.. my dear
friend Lynn
who seems
close to
this means..
and never end
in Journey as
Path with GOD…
God NOW just NOW
Essence.. words
symbols.. tools..
potential paths
with GOD..
GOD’s
Neverland
REAL NOW..:)
Nov 04, 2015 @ 12:12:36
Wow, your tongue/pen has certainly been loosened here, Fred!!! To clarify, my Jesus is more than metaphor…Son of Man and Son of God, with hands to heal us 🙂
Nov 04, 2015 @ 05:57:23
Interesting to me that one who perhaps was not healed himself (but only God can judge) has created paintings that have been healing to others….
Nov 04, 2015 @ 07:04:56
yes, it is amazing the beauty that can come through brokenness…
Nov 04, 2015 @ 13:05:28
Smiles.. my friend Lynn actually i am
suggesting the polar opposite of
what Nicene Council
Catholic altered Christianity
suggests at the time of paying disrespect
to a humble teacher/yogi/healer/prophet
who never ever
wanted to
be worshipped
as a God in anyway
that is still clear in the
New Testament as well
as the Gnostic Gospels
of Jesus untainted
by the hand of
the 325 AD..
Nicene
council..
i am suggesting
as history shows
now that Jesus is
a real man.. a real
prophet.. a real
healer.. no
different
really
than any real
Yogi who lives
today or before
using Yogi as
metaphor
as there
are no
Yogi’s
in the area
Jesus lives then..
Jesus opens up the reality
that we are all children of GOD
and that is the real Good NEWS
and we have the power within
just like he did then
to heal
now..
been there
done IT friend
so yes..
in metaphor
i am speaking
from eyes of
Both God
and Jesus
but the difference
then and now is..
IT is no magic
Soldier Sun GOD myth
propagated by a Roman
Emperor and his power
hungry Catholic friends.. it is the
healing gift of Unconditional
Love without illusory fears
that exists on a desert
Isle of human beings same
here as any planet
with book creatures
such as us or others..
Jesus never asked
for the pay grade of
King of the Universe..
God doesn’t have to play
games like that as GOD is
real too.. so sure.. there are as
many eyes of God in flesh now as
there are stars in the sky and beyond
what tiny human eyes and books can
comprehend
now..
and sure
that’s just common
sense and logic now
gifted to us no less
than the holy
spirit
that works
in tandem with
that for heaven now..
the place of the Kingdom
of GoD that Jesus promises
is here
then and now..
no different than
anywhere else
in God’s
existence
now.. anyway..
take it with a grain of
salt my friend.. i am
not speaking alone
from ego or book
lessons it is now
the HOLY spirit
as expresSinG
within
believe
it or not..
with smiles..:)
Highly unlikely
that the real
man Jesus
will be
accepted
fully in
any
Christian
church now
as dogma rules
then dogma rules now
and that was the reality
Jesus faced then as well
but nah.. he probably wouldn’t
be crucified.. just banned or deleted…
Jesus sets a challenge to be like
him.. but never ever to worship
him anymore than
a grain
of sand..
as a grain
of sand
is GOD too..
the reason we have
a place to stand upon
the EARTH out of Ocean..:)
Nov 04, 2015 @ 15:11:29
Dear friend, I am not Roman Catholic (though still in need of reforming!) but I believe the Nicene Creed. God has given Christ the throne and every knee will bow…in worship. None other is worthy (certainly not myself, grains of sand, sun or moon, even art). I think it’s good for friends to discuss “dogma”-faith, beliefs, truth 🙂
Nov 04, 2015 @ 15:14:38
I think there is always merit in believe my friend.. There is only one God.. I feel Jesus agrees and yes dissension is necessary for truth and light..;)
Nov 04, 2015 @ 03:30:50
I really love how you tied this together with the stories and the mind.. for sure those colors are more meaning than the mere picture they portray.. just like the words of poetry and scriptures.
Nov 04, 2015 @ 02:22:14
Hearts and minds, like church windows of the soul need to be opened…so true, perhaps this is what he was able to paint in his vibrant colours and life in his images but inside was darkness. Beautifully written, Lynn!
Nov 04, 2015 @ 12:14:53
Thanks for your comment, Cheryl-Lynn!
Nov 03, 2015 @ 18:07:24
I agree with you on opening up and listening ~ Love the spiritual wind surrounding the country church ~
Thanks for linking up with Haibun Monday Lynn ~
