nose-talgia

if you die,

let me keep a

favorite piece of

your worn clothing

to hang in guest closet,

or lay folded in deep drawer

when i’m lonely, i will pull it

out to touch a precious memory

cuddle softly round my neck

bury face in warm texture

dampen with my tears

smell your love

once again.

I still have jackets from my dad that probably have his scent on them, but the shirts that belonged to my mom got washed so I could wear them. I really like the format and progression of this poem. It’s very heartwarming. Peace, Linda

What can I say about the title – which made me smile – that hasn’t been said already? This is a very powerful way of remembering someone we lost.

I may be lowering the tone slightly, but I’ve kept some of the baby clothes of my children and try to recapture that special mix of milk, baby oil, acrid sweetness which would probably make anyone but their mother throw up…

What a wonderful way to remember someone… I think I recognise this being done.

Sometime when she’s out of the house, smell her clothing…there must be a scent?

Not noticeable.. Has something to do with Pacific Islander sweat glands.. Per the only scientific sources i am aware of.. But perhaps the greatest reason is i am born with sinuses almost completely closed.. So it’s really mostly just another anecdotal odd case of me.. Winks..:)

And as a side note.. My son was born with sinuses completely closed.. So I continue to celebrate the miracle of my lifeof at least.. Very humbling in deed and overall reality.. sincerely.. With still thanks to God.. Friend Lynn .. Life the gift always of Love..:)
