divine chiaroscuro

we mark a dark yet holy day

when Light himself was crucified

condemned by men, unjustly tried

son suffered, father turned away

wrapped up in gloom, laid in cold tomb

“now God is dead!” the demons say

to save from shadow’s curse, light died

we mark a dark yet Good Friday.

Rhyme and format well done. I like how you captured the “darkness” of this day.

You describe the narrow-mindedness and cruelty of some human beings so well with the line “when Light himself was crucified.” Very well done, Lynn.

This is a wonderful Octain, Lynn. The line that got me was the one about the Father turning away, as I’ve been reflecting a lot on the feeling Jesus had of being abandoned by the Father.

Very timely for Good Friday Lynn:

to save from shadow’s curse, light died

we mark a dark yet Good Friday.

    Also love the mid-rhyme of gloom/tomb ~

    Happy Easter !!!!
