Rose is a rose is a rose is a rose. ~Gertrude Stein

love is a rose is a
rose is a tightly rolled
tender bud is a sweetly
opening blossom is a slow
unfurl of soft petaled glory is an
irresistible, heady fragrance
is a wilting passion ravishly
spent is a sharp thorn
prick to the heart
We’re smelling the roses at dVerse poetics and writing 44-word quadrilles!

Such propelling movement in your poem! It feels as if it should be sung or as if it is singing its own song, whether we sing along or not! And I am so taken with how the ending sticks it to us, makes us grab our wounded hearts and gasp. Bravo!

I admire the line breaks, smoothly going into the next line Lynn. Love the rose’s heady fragrance as well as the picture !

This is a wonderful way both as it is or as a metaphor for passing of life.
