move over, edward lear

Mastodon and pussycat went to sea

in a canoe without any oars.

Said Mastodon to Kitty, “Isn’t it pretty,

this mirrored reflection of stars?”

Replied puss to pachyderm,

“Move a little astern, your trunk

is blocking my view.”

So he took a step back but,

alas and alack! stars scattered

as boat tipped in deep blue…

…which may be why mastodons are extinct and cats hate water 😉

I love it! You’ve out-Leared Lear and, as others have noted too, rivalled Aesop. And of course that MUST be the explanation.about mastodons and cats; I’m so glad to be enlightened.
