This is my attempt at writing a ghazal. A ghazal is usually about love, either romantic or divine. It is written in couplets with a repeating refrain. I was reminded of my studies about passion in poetry. We were told but weren’t able to read the poems of St. John of the Cross who wrote passionate love songs to the Deity and there was a nun who did so also, perhaps it was Hildegard of Bingen who is very famous for many things.I think this form lends itself to mystical and religious writing. This was very moving and well done.
I wrote a poem and name it Passion once. You might enjoy it. It’s written in dialogue.I’ll give you the link here. People often think it’s the voice of Mary Magdalen. Lovely! You certainly captured the Sufi tradition of spiritual love and made it your own by the light of your faith. The last couplet is so well done in particular, as it personalizes this belief and love even further.
