hanalei market

leisurely saturday morning
vacation stop to photograph
picturesque wooden church

park jeep on emerald lawn
off nearby malolo road
white tents reflect sunshine

organic taro fields and
lush mountain peaks serve
as backdrop to lively scene

wander past exotic fruits
and fresh juice samplers
to sounds of ukulele music

admire woven baskets and
printed aloha fish onesies
try on designer canvas hats

taste pineapple shaved ice
sample fresh mango salsa,
buy longan โ€œeyesโ€, star fruit

sudden clouds darken sky
thank friendly island vendor
sprint laughing in warm rain

Oh Lynn, this is wonderful. Thanks for including those photos of goodies. Mango is my favorite fruit.

Hi Lunn! Very wonderful work! Honest expression shared openly. I am having an existential crisis tonight. I invite you to come visit me, cross my bridge of dreams, and listen to Joni sing like an angel!

I would love to visit such a market… and all those fruity tastes sounds divine.

I love this. Kauai is my favorite island by far.

Ah the Hawaiian farmer’s market…a local one at that, sharing the church yard. You’ve taken me there!

That last line is a wonderful way to wrap up the poem!

Ah, we both were inspired by Hawaiian farmers’ markets. So lovely, both your descriptions and photographs!

It sounds like the bonus of the market at your photo-op stop made for a fun morning.

Fresh mango salsa sounds so good! What a lovely market hanalei sounds like. Is this the same place where Puff the Magic Dragon lived??
