moonlit eyes

Frank hosts haibun Monday (moon day) at dVerse poets’ pub.

Cats hunt by the light of the moon, on the prowl for frightened mice, lost birds, or warm baby bunnies. They slink sleekly; wait with tail twitching…then pounce without an ounce of apology. Cats are soft fur & purr, sharp fang & claw. They yowl and croon at the midnight hour. Mating is a loud caterwauling affair…must lust happen just below an open window?

Cats are so wild really… we just imagine that they are tame.

A wonderfully clever haibun, connecting the light of the moon to the night time escapades of our feline population.

You’ve captured the connection between cats and the moon. I especially like the haiku. (K)

You’ve captured the pure essence of the cat here, Lynn! I love your complaint ‘must lust happen just below an open window?’ They really do it noisily, don’t they? Made me laugh!

You made my morning with your feline haibun, Lynn! You probably already know that one of my cats is called Luna, and she is the hunter of the two. I love the phrase ‘pounce without an ounce of apology’ – so true. And such a great haiku with the moon catwalking across the night sky!

I love your cat haibun! Sounds like you have had some experience with cats. The haiku is a great closing!

They are quite sharp those felines 🙂 and perhaps nothing misses their eye. A fabulous write as always, Lynn ❤️

There are such wonderful phrases in your haibun: “frightened mice,” “slink sleekly,” “pounce without an ounce of apology.”
