This being human is
a complicated 10,000
piece jigsaw puzzle
without the box lid.
(i think God keeps
everybody’s box lid,
with their name on it)
A uniquely beautiful
mosaic of color and
movement arranged
in confusing circular
shape (no straight
edges for rounded
personal puzzle).
At times, we feel
urgent motivation
to build our life; at
other times, weary
of the effort, we
pause our puzzling
to get a drink or
take needed nap.
We may beg God
to show us the
picture on box lid
but he just smiles
mysteriously and
finds the next piece
we were looking for,
which fits exactly.
When our puzzle
is finally finished,
love’s glue holds
pieces permanently
together and our
completed puzzles
hang side-by-side
on God’s gallery wall.

I like the idea of being a completed puzzle hanging on God’s gallery wall! We are so malleable now with all the pieces flying around, but permanence will come, I’m certain! 🙏💝
Mar 17, 2021 @ 19:34:52
Yes, i hope all the pieces come together 🙂

I love this idea of our lives being a puzzle with God having the box lid! Rather God than me 🙂
Mar 17, 2021 @ 12:57:08
Definitely…He sees the whole picture 🙂
Mar 17, 2021 @ 13:00:26
😊

I love the alliterative title, the shape of your poem and the jigsaw metaphor, Lynn. Being human is that complicated! I don’t know if I would want to catch a glimpse of my box lid. Ah, the mystery of the next piece.
Mar 17, 2021 @ 12:58:27
Thank you, Kim! Seems life has a lot of curves too, not perfectly straight edges 😉
Mar 17, 2021 @ 03:27:58
Love the humor in this!
Mar 17, 2021 @ 12:59:07
I think God has a sense of humor too 🙂
Mar 17, 2021 @ 02:39:35
Lovely metaphor – love the references back to the lid (yeah, where’s our map?)
Mar 17, 2021 @ 12:59:46
His Word can be our map 🙂
Mar 16, 2021 @ 22:05:29
I love that you mention that God keeps everyone’s box lid. It is so true. You really never know how you are supposed to turn out exactly!
Mar 17, 2021 @ 13:02:52
Thanks for your comment 🙂
Mar 16, 2021 @ 21:36:18
Love your metaphor poem! Yes, life is a bit of a puzzle, a puzzle that has soooo many pieces to it.
Mar 16, 2021 @ 21:40:55
Thanks for stopping by, Carol! I also think we can help each other with our puzzles 🙂
Mar 16, 2021 @ 21:19:51
A beautiful metaphor Lynn! When I started reading I thought, yes we are a puzzle of 10,000 pieces, and often with a few pieces missing! :>) Well done.
Mar 16, 2021 @ 21:23:28
Ha, ha…I always check under the table 🙂 Thank you, Dwight!
Mar 16, 2021 @ 21:11:49
I love this extended metaphor, especially the part about god handing us the next puzzle piece! ❤
