a little respect?

“creepy crawly” they say
i’ll have my dignity and day
as a real mover on eight legs.

“itsy bitsy” they sing
i won’t flaunt a pretty wing
and don’t dare patronize me.

“brown recluse” they assume
when i run from big bad broom;
look-alike to my poisonous cousin.

“step on it” they cry
would you decide when i die?
let me hide in cozy funnel home.

    A little respect, indeed! I agree, they can’t help the way they look! In fact, they seem to have evolved for running. Obviously, people have been killing them for millenia. In fact, the spider will always leave you alone and wishes also to be left alone 🙂

    The picture really gives me the creeps, but you present the spider’s perspective well!

    If they could wear tiny t-shirts saying whether or not they are poisonous it would really help! I liked you getting into the head of the spider, Lynn, and telling it from their perspective.

    A great poem! Spider thoughts take on a whole new meaning when seen from their viewpoint! Nicely done Lynn!

    Lynn,
    The life of the funnel weaver is not easy, least of all because it’s commonly mistaken AND misunderstood! Can’t help but sympathize with its POV. :>)
