a song through tears

as i wait in pickup

for husband on errand,

i miss my mother.

heart pauses in grief as

sparrow lights upon bush

next to vehicle and begins

to sweetly sing as he studies

me with keen dark eyes.

mother’s favorite song was

“His Eye is on the Sparrow;”

it was a connection, a sign.

the One who watches over

my mother, also watches me.

We make connections with what we have to hand. I think the human mind is like that, and our need to believe that there are connections, if only we keep our eyes open 🙂

A lovely way to be reminded that our parents still are close.

Such a touching poem, Lynn, which reminded me of the time my mother’s favourite bird, a robin, flew through a window into our kitchen. Your sparrow was a true sign.

Lynn after reading your poem, I have to draw the same conclusion. We’re all linked with visible and invisible threads.

Indeed, He does; watch! The breadth of His love, hovers!
