boomers message to snowflakes

snowflakes melting on mittens
mewling like helpless kittens
half-grown, grad school bound
when will self-respect be found?

it’s tough world, you must be strong
such thin skin will not last long
not every insult’s in your face,
peace of mind is safest space!

At the end of day, nothing beats a little peace of mind.

Very interesting take on the prompt. I, like many of the older generation wonder how the younger ones coming up will ever make it in this hard world!

Today’s kids are living in such a different world than the one we lived in. May they navigate the snowdrifts and find warm hearths along the way. Thank you for the thought-provoking poem, Lynn.

I think that there are boomers these days who are even more thin-skinned than the young kids… it seems like we all want to be victims.

Hah….is this along the vein of “I used to walk two miles to school, up and down hills, with double knit mittens (not waterproof), boots and snow pants!” 🙂 Actually, when we moved to Boston in ’97 I began walking to work every day (sold our cars – carless in Boston) – even in snow storms where school wasn’t called off. First thing I bought was a full length down coat and boots that were truly waterproof! 🙂
