no news is good news?

“All things are wearisome, more than one can say.  The eye never has enough of seeing, nor the ear its fill of hearing.  What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again, there is nothing new under the sun.”  (Ecclesiastes 1:8)

from

national newscasters

political pundits

television talking heads

to

local celebrities

small town coffee shops

gossip grapevines;

it’s

shocking indecency

another person’s tragedy

driveling trivia comedy

that

we know sells,  as “news”–

whatever our itching ears want to hear.

Yes. They sell what we want to hear, though I’d bet that most don’t want to admit it.

Lynn, you did such a good job with this prompt. I just couldn’t write to it–firstly, I’m fed up with news and tend to get too sucked into the fear-mongering and (better) I’m completing the final edit of my new novel which I will especially promote in the Christian market. (Theme: forgiveness)

Oh yes, news sells…and as Bjorn said, it sometimes turns into a feeding frenzy.

we def feed the hysteria…when we buy it, they know they can get away with it…I use the same argument with the football games and such…as long as we buy merch and tickets, we are perpetuating a system….
