cow pushes
hard, long
granddaughters
come along
to witness birth of calf
girls interested in kittens
already few weeks old
realize something wrong
in birth canal – nose, one hoof
show but never second foot
leg bent unnaturally
cannot push out
(naturally)
must pull
stillborn
Unfortunately, this was our experience yesterday…linking quadrille to dVerse.

Sometimes the birth of one of my poems follows this scenario–that too can be painful to witness.

Truth!

A big lesson about nature and, whilst painful, a lesson that in the long run deepens our understanding of the mystery.

Most definitely…thanks, Paul.

😭

sad when this happens but a good life lesson for young people, nature in its beauty and sadness teaches much
Apr 24, 2017 @ 16:55:17
Yes, very true!
Apr 24, 2017 @ 16:49:54
Oh! A difficult moment –not easy to explain to kids. I like the structure that you use to tell this story in the poem.
Apr 24, 2017 @ 16:46:50
I hope the cow survived. Best wishes.
Apr 24, 2017 @ 16:48:52
I think the cow will be alright…thankfully.
Apr 24, 2017 @ 16:20:33
Oh, NO. I am so sorry. So sad for all.
Apr 24, 2017 @ 16:22:47
I took the girls and kittens out of the barn…and tried to answer questions.
