What an adventure indeed. 🙂

That was fun — but I was nervous reading it. These boys with toys kill people — a friend bragged about racing his ambulance until he killed a 4 year old boy by accident racing through a neighborhood (that friend went crazy and now lives homeless), cops on fun chases kill by-standers, pilots at airshows crash and kill crowds. But I was so happy to see such a good ending to your Dad’s story. The language was great, reminding me of him and of stories we tell our daughters. The details of your story are amazing and tell us about the town, the people , your dad, and the daughter listening (you!).
I have a daughter too and take care of the victims of boys with toys. That is my background. I get both sides of our humanity. Thanks. (BTW, I replied to your fine comment back at my poem).

I appreciate hearing your perspective…I have 5 boys myself and we would not allow our oldest to buy a motorcycle while living at home. Terrible accidents do happen! Thanks for commenting, Sabio.

My faller forbid me a motorcycle, but I later rode for 20 years. Dangerous toys — I had many crashes. But motorcycles usually only kill their passengers.

True…our son and wife both have cycles, although they don’t ride much with small children now.
