close/open

when restaurants close,
drive throughs open double lanes
to serve safely.

when schools close,
teachers open online rooms
to teach remotely.

when surgical centers close,
hospital personnel open doors
to care courageously.

when church buildings close,
God’s people open united hearts
to pray faithfully.

A lot of heroes and a lot of stories of great humanity. But also a lot of the old divisions… every stands out in sharp relief in such terrible times.

Well done Lynn. Love the contrasts in each stanza. Can’t believe some churches are still having large numbers of people coming in some parts of the country!

I like the parallelism you used and agree with your assessment in the final stanza. 🙂 I discovered a prayer group on YouTube. We do a live stream every day on someone’s channel.
