life portals bear import
more than ports of call
they demand deportment
choose to step through
this door to the other side
as it shuts quietly behind
there’s no going back now
the goodbyes and hellos of
these unmasked emotions
express momentous change
leave outgrown past for
future’s fresh opportunities
every end is new beginning
I stare at empty nest as our fourth son is now married and moved out…and Anmol (HA) hosts dVerse poetics with interesting with “portals” prompt. How fitting!

We all had those moments… myself I’m happy with the doors I have opened.
May 21, 2020 @ 13:42:23
Every end IS a new beginning, providing we don’t waste our time dwelling on what’s past!
May 21, 2020 @ 13:46:49
yEs…thanks, Bev!

Such a great ending “every end is new beginning.”
May 20, 2020 @ 10:50:16
Thank you, Victoria 🙂

Good point about every end being a new beginning. There’s no going back but there is going forward.
May 20, 2020 @ 10:49:39
Going forward…yes!
May 20, 2020 @ 02:20:22
I love a coincidence, Lynn, and although it is hard to say goodbye to our children, especially when they get married and are ‘gone for good’, it is such a happy portal! I love the play on words in the opening lines and the wistfulness of:
‘there’s no going back now
the goodbyes and hellos of
these unmasked emotions
express momentous change’.
The isolation of ‘there’s no going back now’ says it all.

That chapter of life closes, another begins. Yes, it is a happy portal (and thank you for the reminder, KIm)!

May 20, 2020 @ 08:37:05
yep 🙂
May 19, 2020 @ 22:31:29
I love how the theme worked out so well, given your experience just now. Such wisdom in your words — “there’s no going back now” spoke to me. 🙂
May 20, 2020 @ 08:36:30
Thanks, Anmol, I will embrace this portal.
May 19, 2020 @ 21:31:45
We can’t always choose our entrances and exits, but as you say, each threshold provides a new opportunity. (K)

True…i may edit this again 🙂

It reminded me of my Granddaughters one that missed High School Graduation poratl and her sister who missed her UNC-Chapel Hill graduation. Both now enter portals of a different sort, missing closure as the door swings shut behind them!
Well done… opportunities for new adventures!
May 19, 2020 @ 20:06:41
It’s strange for graduates this year…my niece and daughter-in-law as well.
May 19, 2020 @ 20:21:05
A different world for sure!
May 19, 2020 @ 17:54:58
The first step is an act of stepping through, and behold a new beginning awaits us.
Take care !
