back to basics

My fellow Americans,

What is happening to our country?

We are ONE nation but some are trying to divide us!

Have we forgotten our pledge of allegiance to her?

America’s past isn’t perfect; let us learn from our mistakes.

America’s future is full of promise if we reach for her ideals;

If we preserve freedom’s principle to protect individual rights,

If we respect our Constitution and agree to live united under law.

Have we forgotten GOD who is the source of life, law, and justice?

Let us humble ourselves, give thanks for our blessings of opportunity,

and keep working together toward true liberty and justice for ALL!

    I am constantly reminding myself that we are one earth under God. So often we US citizens think we ‘own’ the claim to God. It was fascinating when we visited The Low Country in South Carolina last year. On a day trip to Daufuskie Island where the writer of “The Prince Of Tides”, Pat Conroy, taught school for a year or two to see the deep tradition. In his book, The Water is Wide, Mr. Conroy describes his time working the with children and the other inhabitants on Daufuskie Island. The island church had pew Bibles with the verses in English and Gullah. It was beautiful to see the two side by side. Also, how many of the ‘traditional hymns’ were derived from the African slaves. Continuing to pray for liberty and justice for ALL. God speed.

    If you don’t mind a comment from the other side of the Atlantic:
    Philippians 3:20: “for *our* commonwealth has its existence in [the] heavens, from which also we await the Lord Jesus Christ [as] Saviour”. I don’t expect anything positive from man.

      God’s kingdom is eternal and that is where our ultimate citizenship lies…yet we must live in this world and under governments of men. I do appreciate your comments, David.
