back to basics

My fellow Americans,

What is happening to our country?

We are ONE nation but some are trying to divide us!

Have we forgotten our pledge of allegiance to her?

America’s past isn’t perfect; let us learn from our mistakes.

America’s future is full of promise if we reach for her ideals;

If we preserve freedom’s principle to protect individual rights,

If we respect our Constitution and agree to live united under law.

Have we forgotten GOD who is the source of life, law, and justice?

Let us humble ourselves, give thanks for our blessings of opportunity,

and keep working together toward true liberty and justice for ALL!

hope for renewal

Linking a quadrille on theme of “dawn” with dVerse Poets this week…

now

aurora breaks

this fresh beginning

pink bud of day’s flower

best chance to start again

chosen expect a new dawning

resurrection of men and women

of every tribe, nation and race

new beings recreated, whole

tread gently on new earth

live together in love

 speak peace

then

national day of prayer

Prayer is raising our emptiness to be filled by His presence.

“O Divine Master, grant
that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love. “ – St.Francis

Lord, i’m just one person
of little position or power,
disillusioned with politics,
wondering how to pray
for this nation and world;

where truth is trampled
justice twisted unjustly;
the violated commit violence,
the bullied become bullies
and sadness spills like rain.

as you offered Yourself
may i give myself fully
to love on your children,
feed the hungry souls,
visit the sick, sad, lonely,

beginning in my own home.

Memorial Day U.S.A.

Image

Humid morning mist baptizes rural

community’s hushed burial grounds;

Church youth arise early to prepare holiday

breakfast in nearby park shelter;

 Hungry celebrants line up, awaiting

warm pancakes with smoky sausage;

 Friendly conversations intertwine; words

floating above steamy coffee cups;

 Veterans, Boy Scouts and bicycles are

decorated to parade down Main Street;

 Large multi-generational crowd gathers under

flags flying at peaceful cemetery green;

 Rousing song, patriotic speech, humble prayer

offered gratefully for one nation under God;

 Tearful memories stir when flags lower to solemn

sound of drum roll, taps, and twenty-one guns;

 Americans honor the selfless sacrifices

of military families and our fallen heroes;

 We remember that peace comes with a price,

paid in blood and bravery for our freedoms.

Salute!
