soggy bottoms

Elsie at Ramblings of a Writer challenges us to write a poem using “water” and “thirst”. Mine is an “etheree” with ten lines, each of increasing syllables.

wet

when it
rains it pours

saturation,
precipitation,
weather aberration

water cannot drain away
groundwater rises, creek beds flood

farmers, crops and lawns thirst for sunshine
iowa’s summer uncommonly wet!

easter surprises

Etheree poem meets “bouquet and greenery” challenge at Ramblings of a Writer.

oh

festive

easter day

snowy outside

greenery indoors

we expect spring colors

winter white surprises world

garden bulbs hidden underground

bouquet of tulips brightens our feast

celebrate Son who died, then rose to life

struggle is real

An etheree poem with 10 lines of increasing syllables. This is also a quadrille of 44 words, including the word “fire”. Read more at d’Verse Poets pub

stress

hard pressed

fire’s hot test

find release valve

to manage pressure

start to count love’s good gifts

name all that makes you grateful

hold joy in life’s little moments

live each day with enthusiasm

clinging to hope, you will not crash and burn

It’s calving time on the farm and our manager/son had an emergency appendectomy so he’s laid up for a month. The rest of us are working hard trying to cover for his absence!

seeds of temptation

ripe

surprise–

strawberries!

huge heart-shaped fruit

garnish with green caps

dip in dark chocolate

drizzle with white almond bark

taste sumptuous delicacy

sweetly succulent valentine treat

honey, I love you…now pass me that plate!

An “etheree” poem of ten lines, each has one more syllable than the previous, no rhyme.  Linking to “sweet & sumptuous” February prompts at life in the dirt.

self-destruction

!

no

blaming

suicide

gun explosion

young father missing

community feels shock

evil darkens human thought

 – tragedy’s   harsh   realities –

one cannot undo desperate choice

maybe she will leave so he leaves her first

do not assume the mistakes of others

such could happen to any of us

relationships turn on an edge

hold fragile hearts tenderly

commit to love thru pain

forgive each again

God help us all

redemption

healing

yes

?
