bitten by the snake,
poison circulates system.
venom on the tongue,
with desire to bite back.
why live on blade of bitterness?
if offender will not be offended;
yet stabbed more hearts than one
when chose another over dear son.

How hard it is for a mother to see one’s child devastated thus. I like how with economy of words you wrote of betrayal so effectively.

A mother always watches over her children, and it hurts her as much or more than the child is hurting to see them in pain. I’m sorry your son was hurt in such a way, Lynn.

Why? indeed! We only hurt ourselves. Well done, Lynn. I like your theological implications as well.

I’m glad you noticed that, Dwight! God knows our heartache because His Son suffered too…for us!

That she “stabbed more hearts than one” brings a wider perspective on such a betrayal. And I love this sharply worded question “why live on blade of bitterness?” that not only emphasizes how the wounds linger but offer a way of healing. It’s hard for a mother to forgive such a pain inflicted on her child.

I appreciate your empathy, Dora…it is hard to bear witness to adultery and divorce.

That would cut deep into the heart of the family. Thank God for His promises, including the one you quoted.
