ministry of presence

A quadrille (44 words) linked to dVerse poets where Kim invites us to walk quietly.

to come alongside

lone hurting person in

whatever hard situation

they find themselves.

one who quietly listens

attentive, undistracted

who accepts, validates

with humble posture.

to sit, stand, wait, walk

with fellow pilgrim on

a difficult path in life

hold up, hold on, hope!

Lynn, your phrase “to sit, stand, wait, walk / with fellow pilgrim” lingers with me—it feels like a quiet benediction.

There’s such strength in the gentleness of this ministry.

Yes, Lynn, the presence of another human being when we need it has healing properties. The coupling of ‘lone’ and ‘hurting’ emphasises that. Quiet listening is like a medicine. I love the ‘hope!’ at the end of your quiet quadrille.
