do you love me?
yes, i love you.
a little or a lot?
i love you lots.
forty years worth?
i’ve loved you an ATROCIOUS
amount of time!
~~~~~~~
how did we make it FORTY years?
one question at a time, one answer at a time
one smile at a time, one laugh at a time
one promise at a time, one prayer at a time
one choice at a time, one challenge at a time
one wink at a time, one eye roll at a time
one argument at a time, one concession at a time
one tear at a time, one joy at a time
one kiss at a time, one hug at a time
one step at a time, one sleep at a time
one son at a time, one season at a time
one day at a time, one moment at a time
forty years of blessing is a gift of God’s GRACE!
mark thirty-fifth anniversary
on kaua’i island ~ hawaii
visit hanalei farmers’ market
petite apple-faced vendor offers
juicy samples we cannot resist:
mango, papaya, pretty star fruit,
exotic longan (or dragon’s eyes)
yet most exquisite discovery:
taste of fresh white pineapple
~ as sweet as old lovers ~
Linking to dVerse quadrille prompt on “pine”… and praying for the people of west Maui recently devastated by wild fires.
Tonight for poetics at d’Verse, Laura offers translations of poems by non-English poets for us to interpret and respond with a poem of our own…
Anniversary
And we go on and on,
neither sleeping nor awake,
towards the meeting, unaware
that we are already there.
That the silence is perfect,
and that the flesh is gone.
The call still is not heard
nor does the Caller reveal his face.
But perhaps this might be
oh, my love, the gift
of the eternal Face without gestures
and of the kingdom without form!
by Gabriela Mistral (1889-1957) – the pen name of Lucila Godoy Alcayaga, was Chilean and the first Spanish American author to receive the Nobel Prize in literature.
50th anniversary
oh, my dear,
we would have
celebrated fifty years
together,
if still awake
but here we lie,
on and on
yet
side by side
asleep in
perfect benighted
silence
waiting for day
when our Maker calls
us each by
name
new flesh restored
reuniting with spirit
to fully
savor
the gift revealed
of an eternal kingdom:
to see
face to Face!
world of poets
online experience rich
blogger friends
a tapestry stitch
poetic minds wander like seven year itch
often words flow
without a hitch
but some prompts
induce writer’s glitch
while various sites
may bait and switch,
d’Verse welcomes all to find their niche!
Here’s a quadrille for dVerse Poets and Bjorn’s “bliss”ful prompt… it’s supposed to be heart-shaped but looks more like a carrot!
anniversary weekend
sunshine follows rainstorms
bike paths through tunneled shade
relax to rediscover love’s secrets
playful conversation answers
companionable silence, sit
touching, fingers entwine
between sips of wine
live band remembers
soul sways to tunes
breathe and listen
heartbeats in
syncopation
of wedded
bliss
A personal tanka of thanks, dear 🙂
forgotten hairbrush
meltdown in camper shower
husband buys new one
our anniversary day
true love’s living sacrifice
