spitfire

if denied the warmth they yearn

rotisserie hearts predictably turn

enflaming selfish tongues to burn

glowing embers smolder & smoke

rising ashes threaten to choke

old conflagration easily stoke

innocents witness this ugly scene

wonder what white hot words may mean

soaking up pain of blame too keen

pour confessions’ water on flames

douse wildfire of relationship games

let forgiveness speak our new names

lovely! And so true that nothing but forgiveness can quench the flames that anger ignites!

Such imperfect creatures we be, whereby emotion trumps intellect, candor, & logic much too often; nice take on the prompt.

Your rhyme scheme, form and cadence add a lightness that belies the heavy topic.

let forgiveness speak our new names… it’s good when forgiveness wins and the anger ceases…. ugh…

Very effective–both in the expression of anger and in the form.

I wouldn’t have wanted to be a witness to this.
