stressed out
pressed out
spread thin as
melted butter
dries into hard
charred toast
(cheap toaster,
get what you
pay for, huh?)
calendar days
overlap, overfill
with uneventful
events (or ever
errant errands);
can’t clear any
cluttered squares
for open spaces
just to breathe.
responsibilities
worry like dog
that won’t let go
of old stale bone;
just bury them
(in moist garden
with earthworms
in dirt) dig ’em up
later, composted.
body is inflamed
system attacks own
internal flora/fauna
(acidic thoughts
exacerbate cycle:
over-react or
stuff fears deep?)
irritated colon tries
to digest itself.
is it possible
to self-correct
immuno-hyper-vigilantis?
“Therefore we do not lose heart. though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
2 Corinthians 4:16-18

This seems to me such a testament of the way so many of us live today. Hope you find relief soon.

For me at least.. i have to say yes.. as with peace of mind and body practiced in balance.. Auto immune issues of Sjogren’s Syndrome, Dysautonomia, and Fibromyalgia came under the tame.. of mastery of mind and body balance in relative control…
Yeah.. and the doctors say.. just a random remission.. but i know better than that.. now for sure..with no words or pills to cure.. the healing is below in senses and emotions in relative control..:)

Somehow we have to get through the ordeals.. hmm if the toaster is toast maybe I would settle for crisp bread..:-)

I could relate to this. And I love the verse at the end — it’s one of my favorites. Peace, Linda

Liked your poem; glad to hear U play the flute. Will trade you my Chronic Inflammatory Demylinating Polyneuropathy for your Colitis.

ugh… too many days filled with errant errands and burned toast… def. good to fix our eyes on what is unseen – though i find it extremely difficult at times..
Mar 13, 2015 @ 14:15:29
It is difficult, Claudia…our eyes aren’t accustomed to the bright light…

keep up the good fight –
Once when I wasn’t paying attention, I discovered that it is possible to set toast on fire in the toaster. Alas, if you try to save it, it crumbles into dust like an ancient Egyptian mummy, when one tries to butter it.

LOL 😀 Our toaster will char bread on the first setting sometimes!
