spirits sag sluggish
our attitudes apathetic
people lie dying but we
are numbed by numbers
so we adjust our masks
try to control catastrophe
normalize the abnormal
turn off doom of news
cannot shut out reality
of one’s own mortality
seems life is too short to
realize all our dreams
of apocalyptic nightmare
social events cancel
celebrations zoom in
at least we can distract
ourselves with technology:
mind games of (anti)social
media, victims of porn
big bureaucracy grows
as the economy slows
churches shut down
yet abortion services
considered essential
we truly are sick

Abortion is shut down in Texas. When I went to do my pre-admit for surgery on Wednesday I received a Covid 19 test. Hubby nor I had breakfast so we visited the drive thru at Panera Bread. The South San Gabriel River park was nearby and now open. We drove over, parked and remained in the car to eat. Probably at least 100 folks came and went as we were eating and enjoying the river view. Social distancing was being practiced. Two folks were wearing masks. I have two nephews and a niece in law that are pastors. They have online services I can ‘attend’. I try to just think how the pioneers had to worship as they journeyed. I probably am finding this current situation easier than most as I tend to be an introvert. Our grandson was a senior so not big parties or ceremonies. There was a parade. We shall make it to the other side by the grace of our Creator.

Thanks for commenting, Janice. Glad to hear abortion shut down in Texas…that will definitely save lives! Life on the farm hasn’t changed much either, just home more with no evening activities. Worship services on livestream & Bible study on Zoom. YES to His grace!
