a garden lai

This is my attempt at a “lai”.  You can learn more about the form at dVerse

look out my window
garden plants on row
i see

green beans, potato,
snap peas, tomato
must weed

good seeds that we sow
cause blessings to grow
freely

There’s something about this form that produces brisk, no nonsense poems. I like your notes to self and imagine the plants standing to attention in their rows.

I like the garden theme especially the analogy at the end.

That middle stanza makes me hungry for some garden fresh vegetables, and that last stanza is simply beautiful.

Good seeds we sow, we love to grow. This reminds me of a beautiful choral piece More Love. If you google “Kevin Siegfried” and go to his website, I think there is a recording of it. You’ll see how well it fits with your piece here 🙂
