Perhaps the phrase
is meant to be
nonchalant
but it comes across as
noncommittal,
holding out/holding in
your real opinion.
It’s pathetically apathetic
not to speak your mind
with honest clarity; to own
your own point-of-view.
i don’t care? oh, yes, you do!

I agree with your points. Of course they care

You make a good point, Lynn!

Lynn, I love how you show that saying “I don’t care” can hide strong feelings and avoid sharing what you truly think.

Would you mind if I share this as a reblog at some point in the future, Lynn?

Of course! I’d be pleased, David 🙂

So true, Lynn!
(Do you know the children’s book by Maurice Sendak, “Pierre I don’t care”? It was one of my favorite books when I was a little kid. 😊)

I’m not familiar with that one, Merril, but I memorized “Where the Wild Things Are”!

“Where the Wild Things Are,” came out after I was reading books for older kids, so I had to learn about it later, but it’s a good one! 😊

This is so poignant ~ I agree, it does comes across as noncommittal, either a person has their own point of view or they can be on the same page. ❤️❤️

I love the last line; it’s so true! Especially if you’re trying to decide where to go for dinner. “I don’t care” can easily become “anywhere but there”.

Yes, that sounds like my husband and me! 😅
