personal notes on psalm 121

I lift up my eyes to the hills– where does my help come from?

I look up… is there anyone who can help me?

My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.

My Creator sees me; He knows, he cares, he will rescue me!

He will not let your foot slip– he who watches over you will not slumber;

God is always awake and watching over my path.

indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

He is on duty 24/7; guarding and watching over his people.

The LORD watches over you– the LORD is your shade at your right hand;

I can take comfort in the shade of his protection; he’s got me!

the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.

Natural threats (pandemic) and disasters will not harm me ultimately.

The LORD will keep you from all harm– he will watch over your life;

My life is hidden in God; I belong to him and he keeps me safe.

the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

He will be with us through all our life’s journey into eternity.

just asking

So…what is it about men that it always has to be their idea?!   😉

politics

why do we find it our forte to fight?

why so obsessed to prove we are right?

an ancient blame game that began in the garden

who knew how bad seed of sin’s fruit would harden?!

reliable routine

i find comfort in the order of my surroundings:

bed made

dishes washed

laundry folded

clutter removed

floor cleaned

(e)mail sorted

calls returned

meal planned

chores done

list checked

i find comfort in the order of my spirit:

read Bible

say prayer

eat well

move body

see beauty

play music

go outdoors

call friend

laugh aloud

write poem

a steadying cycle to be repeated tomorrow.

perfectly imperfect

Marriage is a meeting, a melding, a matching of two primaly different perspectives. It’s a perfectly imperfect study in passion where one discovers a fine line between ecstasy and agony. Beware of emotional baggage that packs bitterness…open up to launder, expose contents to fresh air.

Love and hate are but two sides of the same coin. Consider the root of anger. Do I really hate YOU in this moment? Or do I hate that you do not (cannot?) love me the way that I really want to be loved? Let go with an open heart, hold on with warm hands. Forgiveness preserves togetherness.

Awake in middle of night…time to play magnetic poetry online!

color our world

Today, my grand daughters colored my sidewalk with chalk and Rebecca said sweetly, ” Grandma, we’re not afraid of the sickness; we just go outside and DO things!”

Celebrate LIFE as spring colors the world with…

soft sunrise pink

happy tulip red

emerald lawn green

robin’s breast orange

easter lily white

lilac scented purple

dandelion yellow

fuzzy catkin grey

open sky blue!

If you’re an old “Chicago” fan, enjoy this recording (1970) which begins with song, “Colour My World” which features a lovely flute solo:

close/open

when restaurants close,
drive throughs open double lanes
to serve safely.

when schools close,
teachers open online rooms
to teach remotely.

when surgical centers close,
hospital personnel open doors
to care courageously.

when church buildings close,
God’s people open united hearts
to pray faithfully.

perhaps, looking back, we
may possibly be tickled pink
to experience the good fortune
of living through the apocalypse—
not of destruction, but revelation,
which sharpens iron, unveiling
nuts and bolts of wiser choices
like bright sunburst in your eyes;
the sweet ’n sour of life’s losses
purges the palate (and palette)
even as it washes away our
fragile sand castle dreams.
