fulfillment

This senryu written in “free” form and linked to CDHK  “no rules” prompt…ironic, because kids need some rules to flourish.

years dedicated to

the nurture of children

full life enriched

silent sabbath

laid down life for friends

blood congealed, stiff body wrapped

stone seals death in tomb

soldiers wipe spear and spikes clean

women grieve over spices

never born here

A poem for mothers who’ve miscarried and in memory of our first grandchild.

hope is eternal

quiet stones by pond

ornamental trees blossom

bird chirps inside bush

remember neighbor who’s gone

…resurrected to new life!

While on vacation (visiting a Japanese garden in Hermann Park, Houston), we learn of a neighbor, Loren Meyer’s, sudden passing…

national day of lament

legalized forty-four years

america’s future aborted

innocent blood on our hands

it’s mechanical/chemical rape

woman’s womb was sacred space

innocent blood on our hands

complications may occur

unplanned barrenhood results

innocent blood on our hands

abortionists get filthy rich

take advantage of desperate girls

innocent blood on our hands

would not dissect live puppies

yet traffic baby body parts

innocent blood on our hands

dark path of sexual revolution

strips all human lives of dignity

innocent blood on our hands

six million Jews in holocaust

almost sixty million unborn children

innocent blood on our hands

life’s pilgrimage

weary traveler

lift eyes to refresh long view

walk the narrow way

leave it all behind

hiking boots and stick

take bold step, do not look back

leave it all behind

*  *  *

all want happy life!

but not every road leads home

pilgrims will seek truth

consider Jesus, the Way

relation, not religion

January meme at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai is the “Road to Santiago”.

passing glory

fibers reflect light

gossamer seeds scatter on wind

creativity

erupts in transient beauty

life leaves empty pod with sigh

light snuffed out

A poem of lament, in shape of candlestick, dedicated to family of Lukas Monsma

young voice sings to guitar
sweet, yet haunting
oh, my son, I can
hear your song
on the wind

memories
don’t leave us
alone in the dark
nearly pull us apart
by plucked heart strings
strumming addicted to grief
cold, thin, mountain air
stealing our breath
mingles yours
high in sky

i’m sorry for
what was unsaid
life hangs by a thread
as we still wait for you to
turn around and come home
