glow of a cat’s eyes
hunting for unwary mice
stealthy night prowler
tail twitches, whiskers quiver
hunch low, slink silent, then pounce!

No joy in this for the mouse (obviously) but another take on “joy of light” theme at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai.

pure light shines boldly

on both good and evil thoughts

exposing our hearts

greatest show on earth

After sunrise early one morning, I watched the full moon still hovering in the pale western sky. Momentarily, it appeared as a bright shiny coin balanced on an electric line; a high wire act, ready to roll like a big white marble down a track; a cosmic toy staged by a playful Designer. I wondered if the weight of it would bend the wire low to the ground causing sparks or if it would tip off and crash to earth, creating a sizable crater. As I observed, it fell…slow motion…through the wires and was caught safely in net of bare tree branches, averting disaster. The earth turned, the water tank filled, and I went back to chores.

Challenge at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai  to create a“fusion” haiku from the given classic haiku and then create a Troiku series of three with using lines of”fusion” haiku:

the water-fowl
pecks and shivers
the moon on the waves

scooping up the moon
in the wash bassin,
and spilling it

I kept hanging the moon
on the pine tree, and taking it off,
gazing at it the while

i gaze at full moon
spilling on ripples of waves,
white egret shimmers

i gaze at full moon
rising thru pine tree’s needles,
caught in silhouette

on ripples of waves,
docked boat gently rocking as
moonlight washes shore

white egret shimmers
while pecking in moon water,
scoops up silver fish

remembrances

Challenge at CDHK to create an original “fusion” haiku from two classics and then use each line to write a “troiku” series of three more haiku.  Here’s my attempt…

crystal brook
reflects the willow trees
birds sing their song

sweet perfume
memories of a loved one
Jasmine blossom

© Yozakura

brook’s crystal waters

reflect sweet jasmine blossoms

scented memories

© lynn

brook’s crystal waters

brace trout swimming upstream

bait hook with fly lure

sweet jasmine blossoms

speak white-petaled wisdom’s way

nurture tender vines

scented memories

of father and mother’s love

listen to bird song

sounds of silver

breeze whispers in trees

shaking,  sighing, quivering

summit ash leaves quake

listen to metal

red tail fin turns, grey blades spin

garden windmill squeaks

hear tinkling music

chimes dangle on staggered strings

dance with spring zephyr

Version 2

view from my kitchen window

epilogue:

do you hear the wind?

whirring sound but no air moves

fan noise app for sleep
