God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. (1 John 1:5)
messenger of light
alien voice speaks good news
bright winged radiance
trembling shepherds shade wide eyes
angel commands, “Do not fear!”

Little town of Bethlehem in
Hebrew means house of bread.
Middle-eastern innkeeper’s wife
bakes bread in outdoor clay oven
to feed guests crowding the table,
filling every room; no vacancy here.
Village streets over-taxed tonight with
dusty lineage of David’s descendants.
Oven fires cooled, bread crumbs swept,
visitors settled but someone’s knocking:
desperate husband with panting wife
begging for bed, nesting in barn; scene of
midnight moaning, blood-stained straw.
Newborn baby’s cry echoes in starlit night;
babe of Bethlehem is bread from heaven,
the Son of Man comes as manna to earth.
Grown into manhood, he fasts long yet
refuses devil’s ploy of leavened stones;
feeds crowd of five thousand on hillside,
blessing of bread fills baskets of leftovers.
He gathers disciples, breaks bread at table of
last supper together, they eat passover lamb;
who offers his body as bread upon a raised altar
to nourish gaunt souls, to feed the hungry world.

We hold a breathless love for grand daughter, Lydia Grace.
This little blond girl keeps us hoppin’
her energy level’s non-stoppin’
chasin’ the dog
or playin’ leapfrog
the outdoors begs us to go rompin’ !

I have a dear grandson named Lincoln
whose cuteness can sometimes be stinkin’
I caught his sweet face
his blue eyes? not a trace
Saying “cheese” is too cheesy, I’m thinkin’

God covers me
with his gentle hand
like a warm coat
in winter winds.
He covers me
with his wide mercy
like a big umbrella
in spring downpour.
He covers me
with his tender love
like a bridal tent
in summer sun.
He covers me
with his life’s blood
like a full pardon
in fall starkness.
He covers me
with his eternal grace
like a safe shelter
in all seasons.
“We live under an umbrella of goodness and mercy.” (Pastor T. on Psalm 23)
“I am my beloved’s and he is mine…his banner over me is love.” (Song of Songs)

Oh,
look at
that!
He posted photos
on facebook AGAIN
of their most recent
exotic VACATION…
some tropical island
resort, of course.
They’re always
FLYING off together;
and they’re NOT
even married! No,
they’re too YOUNG
(and foolish) yet…
Peter and Wendy,
WHERE do they
get the money?
The time, well…
THAT they seem
to have plenty of;
those two will
never-never
NEVER
grow
up!
